What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud Computing is a fairly new concept in Computer Programming. Companies like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Amazon all provide Cloud Computing services for users in IT departments and software development companies. Some of the largest companies in the world utilize Cloud Computing in their suite of services to their clients and their internal employees.
Basically Cloud Computing allows a user access to software programs over the internet, without having to install software or hardware locally. Not only is this type of technology extremely cost-effective, but it also slashes maintenance / repair times, and allows integration between programs (e.g. Google and Sales Force).
Cloud Computing services usually are hosted on server data centers, where all of the processing and maintenance occurs. Users wishing to use the software normally log-in to one of these data center servers to perform tasks. Depending on the level of security and permissions, users may be able to install programs or create new applications while accessing any company’s software program.
Even though Cloud Computing is an incredibly hot buzzword today within the Computer Science world, it is still in its early stages of life. Like most every software program ever created, it continues to evolve as technology advances occur. Here at Abakoos, we are already planning some excellent upgrade features given the advances we foresee happening over the next few months. The sky is the limit with Cloud Computing technology and companies who are ready to embrace and advance the services available will be at the forefront of the Computer Programming industry.
